A Large Education Site

The client is a large school with an extensive site comprising a range of educational, recreational and operational areas.

These include classrooms, science departments, halls, stage areas, plant rooms, stores, entrances and gym facilities, with fire extinguishers distributed across the different parts of the premises.

Existing Records Did Not Match the Equipment on Site

The school was scheduled for servicing of 200 fire extinguishing appliances.

On arrival, our engineer identified that the appliances physically present across the premises did not correspond with the existing job card.

Rather than relying solely on the existing information, the equipment and locations therefore needed to be checked against what was actually present throughout the site as the servicing work progressed.

Working Systematically Across the School

Fire Services Central worked systematically through the school, identifying and testing the extinguishers due for servicing across the various educational and operational areas.

The equipment included a mixture of 6L foam, 2kg CO₂ and 6L water extinguishers located throughout the premises.

As part of the visit, the existing extinguisher provision was reviewed, replacement equipment was installed where required and replaced equipment was removed from site.

The servicing programme covered extinguishers positioned throughout a wide range of educational and operational areas across the school.

Servicing Based on the Equipment Actually Present

The servicing work was completed against the equipment found throughout the premises, despite discrepancies between the existing job information and the appliances present on site.

The project also resulted in 20 replacement extinguishers being installed and 20 existing units being removed, updating the extinguisher provision across a wide range of educational and operational areas.
